World Book Night is dedicated to spreading the love of reading, person to person! Each year, over 25,000 book givers hand out 20 copies of a specially-printed, not-for-resale World Book Night U.S. edition, pre-chosen from a list of 35 titles. It's a fun and easy way to spread the joy of reading to complete strangers, many of whom may never have owned a book of their own.
This year WBN is on April 23, 2014 and from now until January 5th you have the opportunity to register online as a designated book giver. Your Abilene Public Library is serving as a distribution location in our area, receiving the free books from publishers and passing them out to givers so they may spread them out in our community.
What's involved in being a giver? Not a whole lot!
First, register online at World Book Night U.S. Qualifications for givers include the following: Each giver show be over 16 years of age; acknowledge that selling any books designated for gifting is illegal, agree to give out books to those in need in our community who are not friends, family or your own book group; and select a book title from the designated list.
