Weekly Events @ Your Library (Dec. 7-12)

Keep up with the great programs and events your Abilene Public Library has to offer by catching this weekly blog each Thursday.  For a complete listing of events, visit our main website to take a look at our program calendar.

Annual Food for Fines Drive

It's that time of year where you can waive those pesky late fees by donating canned goods and other nonperishable items to the library.  Each item donated will waive $1 in late fees only, and all donated materials will benefit the Food Bank of West Central Texas.  What a great deal!

Tween Time: Stained Glass Ornaments

PH: 325-676-6067
Youth, ages 8-15, are invited to join us for an evening crafting workshop where we'll show you how to create your own faux stained glass ornaments for the holidays.  We'll supply all the materials needed so you can create some holiday decorations for your homes and trees.

Teen Time: Pizza & Games

Mockingbird Branch
1326 N. Mockingbird Ln.
PH: 325-437-7323
Teens are invited to come out and join up with their peers for an afternoon of gaming at the library, and this time, we're going old school with Monopoly.  Like always, we'll supply pizza for this social get-together after school.

Make & Take: Popsicle Stick Reindeer
Dec. 8 @ 4:00PM
South Branch
1401 S. Danville Dr.
PH: 325-698-7565
Kids of all ages are invited out to this after school activity where we'll be showing you how to make some holiday reindeer using popsicle sticks.  We made scarecrows last month, and now we'll show you how to transition to another cute holiday craft to use for decorating your homes and trees.

Lego My Library (Lego Club)

Main Library
202 Cedar St.
PH: 325-676-6067
Youth and teens, ages 8-18, are invited out to our monthly meeting of the Lego Club at your library where we'll supply you with the materials needed to get started building whatever your minds can imagine.  Work on a project solo, or join up with a group of friends (old and new) for a joint project...the choice is yours.

Collecting Commas Writing Club

Main Library
202 Cedar St.
PH: 325-676-6067
If you're between the ages of 10-17, join our weekly writing club at the library where we'll help you hone your creative writing skills in all forms from fiction to poetry.  Join your peers in a collaborative club where you can feel free to work on, and share your writings, with a fun group.

ArtWalk Night @ Your Library
Dec. 10 @ 5:00PM
Main Library
202 Cedar St.
PH: 325-677-2474
Join us for ArtWalk Night at your library and view our featured display of the month on the first floor, with a holiday theme of course.  Plus, kids who stop by will be able to make their own Santa ornaments.  And you won't want to miss stepping into the children's storyroom to check out the amazing mural by Debra Warr and the original artwork from a local teen on the storyroom door.

Family Flix @ Your Library
Dec. 12 @ 10:45AM
South Branch
1401 S. Danville Dr.
PH: 325-698-7565
Kids and parents are invited out to a mid-morning movie at your library where we'll be showing a great holiday classic about a grumpy creature intent on stealing away with Christmas.  Light refreshments will be served, or you can feel free to bring your own snacks.  Visit our Movie Schedule Page online for a look at the movie lineup.

Don't miss out on these great activities being hosted at your library and get in on what we have to offer.
