"World Book Online Offers Users a World of Information" | @ the Library Article

The Abilene Public Library is pleased to announce the addition of the World Book Online to its E-Resources collection.

From the publishers of the renowned World Book Encyclopedia, World Book Online's suite of eight digital publications offers unique content and features for patrons of every age, ability and interest.  Using the same expert information found in the World Book Encyclopedia, these easy-to-navigate websites offer 24/7 access on smartphones, tablets, and personal computers.

The product suite includes the Online Reference Center, a powerful reference tool for those of high school age and older.  It features the entire World Book Encyclopedia, an atlas, a dictionary, and local and country research guides.  Info Finder is especially for students in upper elementary and middle school who come to the library for help with their homework and research projects.

World Book Discover offers engaging reference resources for students who read below their grade level because of language or learning difficulties, including reluctant readers, English language learners, ESL, and adult literacy patrons.

World Book Kids has been developed especially for younger library patrons.  It features an intuitive user interface; thousands of easy-to-read articles packed with illustrations; videos; interactive maps; and a wealth of engaging games and activities.  Its simple navigation - with image thumbnails next to each entry - enables youngsters to find information easily.

Early World of Learning was created for preschoolers and children in the early elementary grades.  Developed with the help of early childhood education experts, the site encompasses playful interactive learning environment, including Trek's Travels, Welcome to Reading, and Know It.  Each environment is designed for easy integration into classroom and library programming.

With World Book Timelines, kids have a dynamic way to discover events spanning the arts, literature, notable people, science and technology, society and culture, sports, and world history and geography organized into more than  unique timelines that include more than 12,000 individual events.

Users can explore these timelines of they can follow easy-to-use templates that allow them to create, customize and share their personal timelines.

Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos is an interactive site offering the content of World Book Kids in Spanish through a beautiful interface designed for students in kindergarten through fourth grade as well as older patrons and adults learning Spanish as a foreign language.

L'Encyclopedie Decouverte offers World Book Kids' content in French through two interfaces: one designed for younger native French speakers, the other for older patrons and adults learning French as a foreign language.
