Your Abilene Public Library is always looking for new and innovative programs to engage youth in the community. Next week the South Branch Library will begin the After School Adventure Program (ASAP), Feb. 16 @ 4:00PM. Designed for youth ages 6 and older, this program will be led by children's library assistant Shahala Trammell as a way to introduce youth to the world in a program that will be both fun and educational.
Kids who attend ASAP will learn about a different country each month through stories and associated activities including games, songs, and crafts. Since traveling to other counties is not an option for most during our childhood, that doesn't mean we can't experience a little bit of culture right here in Abilene.
In our first ASAP event on Tuesday, Feb. 16 @ 4:00PM, kids will get the opportunity to learn all about England. Plus, you'll also get the chance to build a craft as we'll supply the materials to make castles in the library. Now that's going to be fun.
ASAP will run through April and return in September for the start of the new school year. We invite all kids and parents to check out this new monthly program and experience the world from the comfort of your local library. For more information about ASAP, contact Shahala Trammell at 325-698-7565.
