Today's Top Book & DVD Releases

Everyone loves staying on top of the latest in books & DVDs and we receive them on a regular basis at your library.  Join us as we hit the highlights of some of the more popular titles being released today.

Sisters
Starring: Tina Fey
Summary: SNL alumni Tina Fey and Amy Poehler co-star in this Universal Studios comedy about two daffy adult sisters, one an irresponsible single mom and the other a kindhearted nurse, who decide to throw one last wild party at their childhood home before it's sold by their parents.  However, their bash ends up going disastrously awry. 

Carol
Starring: Cate Blanchett
Summary: Two women from very different backgrounds find themselves in an unexpected love affair in 1950s New York.  As conventional norms or the time challenge their undeniable attraction, an honest story emerges to reveal the resilience of the heart in the face of change.  A young woman in her twenties, Therese is a clerk working in a Manhattan department store and dreaming of a more fulfilling life when she meets Carol, an alluring woman trapped in a loveless, convenient marriage. 

Game of Thrones: Season 5
Starring: Lena Heady
Summary: This season begins with a power vacuum that protagonists across Westeros and Essos look to fill.  At Castle Black, Jon Snow struggles to balance the demands of the Night's Watch with those of newly-arrived Stannis Baratheon, who styles himself the rightful king of Westeros.  Meanwhile, Cersei scrambles to hold on to power in King's Landing amidst the Tyrells and the rise of a religious group led by the enigmatic High Sparrow, while Jaime embarks on a secret mission.  Across the Narrow Sea, Arya seeks an old friend while a fugitive Tyrion finds a new cause.  And as danger mounts in Meereen, Daenerys Targaryen finds that her tenuous hold on the city requires some hard sacrifices. 

Private Paris

Deep Blue
Author: Randy Wayne White
Summary: On a moonless night on Sanibel Island, Florida, marine biologist Marion "Doc" Ford carefully watches a video of a hooded man executing three hostages.  The man is an American working with ISIS, and in the next few days, it'll be Ford's job, as part of his shadowy second life, to make sure he never kills anybody else again.  But a lot can go wrong in a few days, and Ford has no way of knowing that not only will the operation prove to be a lot more complicated than he has anticipated, but that he'll end up bringing those complications back with him to the small community of boaters, guides, lovers, and friends in Dinkin's Bay, where he's long made his home.  Someone has taken Ford's actions very personally, and now no one there is safe - least of all, Ford himself.
