Lib-Con 2016 is just over a month away and we're excited to gear up for one of the busiest mini-conventions to date. There's tons to take advantage of with 40 events spread across six days and for all ages.
Two of our featured events will be our contests, and we wanted to highlight those so you can make preparations if you want to enter. Both will offer contestants the chance to win some great prizes, as well as show off your talents to the community. We encourage everyone to take part in the contest fun.
We're already accepting entries with divisions for youth, teens, and adults. Create your best artwork, in your favorite fandom, and then drop off your submissions to any library location with a completed Entry Form. We'll accept entries through the end of the month and the public will cast their votes on their favorites, in each division, during the week of Lib-Con. Winners in each division will be named and recognized at the Cosplay Contest and will receive a certificate, prizes, and of course, bragging rights. If you have questions, contact contest coordinator Jessica Reyes at 325-698-7565.
Everyone loves costuming, and we're inviting you to be a part of this annual contest. We saw record numbers last year, and expect the same in 2016. If you've got a costume you want to show off, or you're working on one right now, we want you to show off your characters during the final day of Lib-Con. Participants will register on the final day of Lib-Con and then you'll present your costume on stage for a chance at winning great prizes and bragging rights. It's the most highly-attended event at Lib-Con, and the best way to close out the week of activities. If you have questions, contact contest coordinator Amanda Sasser at 325-676-6067.
Don't pass up on your chance to participate in our annual contests this year. Plus, be sure to get all of your information about this event online by visiting our Lib-Con Page online. You'll find even more information about each of them, a listing of all events, frequently asked questions, and more.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact coordinator Ann Mount at 325-676-6025.
