Summer Fitness Fun @ Your Library

The theme for the Adult Reading Club is "Exercise Your Mind," placing an emphasis on the importance of being physically active as adults.  Libraries may be known for lending books, hosting storytimes, offering resources for research, and other traditional services, but we're expanding our reach in special activities this summer.

Throughout the reading club period we'll be hosting a series of fun fitness courses that will get you up, moving, and having fun at your library.  All fitness courses will be led by local instructors and professionals, and all are FREE for you to participate in.

Health & Fitness is the theme of this year’s Adult Summer Reading Club at your library, and we’re gearing up for a series of fitness activities for the community to get involved in at your library.  We’re partnering with YMCA Abilene to offer guests with some a Saturday fitness class each month, and all are free for you to take advantage of.  The first session will feature a Zumba class where an instructor will get you movin’ and groovin’ to workout your bodies to great tunes that make you want to participate.  Don’t pass up on your chance to join in on the fun, and for additional information about this event, contact Anne Ellis at 325-437-7323.

We’re ready for more fitness fun at your Abilene Public Library today, as the theme of the Adult Reading Club this year is Health & Fitness.  Sometimes working out can become monotonous and boring, so why not switch things up by engaging in different activities designed to make you have a little fun?  Join us for a Beginner’s Disc Golf session, hosted at Cal Young Park, that will run from 10AM to about noon.  Whether you’ve been playing for a while, or this is your first time, we’ll give you a rundown of the basic rules, helpful hints, then start playing.  This class will be taught by ACU instructor Deonna Shake, so come out and Exercise You Mind (and body) with your library!  For more information about this event, contact Ann Mount at 325-676-6025.

It’s all about Health & Fitness as the theme for this year’s Adult Summer Reading Clubs at your library, and we’re taking full advantage of it by introducing you to some fitness classes you can take advantage of in the community.  This morning session will feature a Senior Fitness Class led by Christa Ellis of the Hendrick Health Club.  She will be on hand to guide you through a workout modified just for seniors.  Get fit with us at this free event at the library, and for additional information, contact Ann Mount at 325-676-6025.

Don’t miss the next health & fitness workshop at your library as part of the theme for this year’s Adult Summer Reading Club at your library.  This session is designed especially for babies (ages 6 months to 3 years) and parents to enjoy, in a Baby & Me Yoga Class.  This event will be led by Tara Lamson of the Sage Yoga Center who will be on hand to guide you and your baby through a yoga session, start to finish.  Please bring a yoga mat and comfort toys for your baby, but don’t miss out on this unique activity being offered at your library.  For additional information, contact Ann Mount at 325-676-6025.

After a fun time battling it out at Lib-Con we’re ready for another round of fun during the Adult Summer Reading Club.  It’s all about health & fitness as the theme for this year, and who says you can’t have a little fun while getting a little exercise?  Join us in this after hours library event where you can bring your “Nerf” gun and ammo for a lively and good-natured battle royale throughout the library.  We do ask that you bring a “Nerf” weapon with standard darts, not the high-powered guns with round pellets or modified weapons as we’re not trying to hurt anyone.  And also note, that some ammo may be lost during game play, but it’s all in good fun.  Don’t miss out on the fun time to be had, and for additional information, contact Ann Mount at 325-676-6025.
