Tween & Teen Coloring Day

With the success of the Coloring Club for adults, we’re adding a special coloring club this summer for tweens and teens to enjoy at your library.  If you’re between the ages of 8-18, you’re invited out to your Mockingbird Branch Library on Wednesday afternoons to have some coloring fun of your own.  Relax and work on a number of pages from superheroes to new age designs to classic images and more.  We’ll supply all the materials you’ll need for each session, but please feel free to bring your own supplies if you’d like.  Don’t miss out on the fun, and for additional information, please feel free to contact us at 325-437-7323.

Stories in the Park: Superheroes

Kids and parents are invited to join the South Branch Library for our weekly Stories in the Park session, hosted at Red Bud Park across from the playground.  Please note that in June & July, the times have changed to 10:45AM instead of the afternoons.  This week’s theme is all about Superheroes so join us for stories, songs, games, and more outdoors at one of our great city parks, and then you can head out to the playground once we’re done.  Each session will be hosted as long as the weather permits.  Feel free to call us at 325-698-7565 if you’re unsure.  For additional information about this program, feel free to email Alyssa Crow.

Family Fun: Favorite Authors - Jane Yolen

Collecting Commas Writing Club

If you’re between the ages of 10-17, and you have a passion for writing, this is the club you should be a part of at your library!  Led by children’s librarian Kelsie Wade, youth and teens meet up every week to hone their creative writing skills in a stress-free environment through various writing activities and games.  There’s no need to register, simply come out and check out a session.  For more information about this club, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

The Coloring Club

If you’re an adult, and you’re in need of an evening activity that’s fun and calming, don’t pass up on your chance to be a part of The Coloring Club at your library. We’ll supply you with a host of great coloring pages and supplies to make use of, or you’re more than welcome to bring your own if you’d like.All are invited to come on out and color your cares away because coloring is a great activity that’s not just meant for kids. There’s no need to register for this event, just come out and enjoy the coloring fun with other adults in our community. Super Storytime: Dinos in the Sun

Teen Flix After Hours

Teens are invited to join us for a great movie night at the library, after the library has closed for the evening.  We’re continuing to work our way through the Hunger Games franchise this summer, and this week’s featured flick is 2013’s “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth.  In this film, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.  This film is rated PG-13 and runs in at 2 hours and 26 minutes.Snacks and drinks will be provided and teens will be supervised the entire evening.  Rides should be ready for pickup no later than 8:20PM.  For more information about this movie night, contact Tremain Jackson at 325-698-7565.

Fitness Class! Zumba

Health & Fitness is the theme of this year’s Adult Summer Reading Club at your library, and we’re gearing up for a series of fitness activities for the community to get involved in at your library.  We’re partnering with YMCA Abilene to offer guests with some a Saturday fitness class each month, and all are free for you to take advantage of.  The first session will feature a Zumba class where an instructor will get you movin’ and groovin’ to workout your bodies to great tunes that make you want to participate.  Don’t pass up on your chance to join in on the fun, and for additional information about this event, contact Anne Ellis at 325-437-7323.
