Science Club @ Your Library

Don't miss out on your chance to participate in our monthly Science Club for youth at your library.  Designed for ages 8+, this after school activity will teach participants about a new science concept each month before bringing it to life by participating in fun experiments and activities.  It's a great activity combining education with fun and each club session continues to attract a great group of junior scientists.  No registration is required and we will supply all the materials needed.

Make & Take: Build a Bot

Kids of all ages are invited to join us for a fun evening craft workshop at your library.  We'll supply all the materials needed to show you how to create your own cute looking bots in no time, so you can then head out to the stacks to look for some great books to checkout from the library.  We love crafting at the library, and if you do as well, don't pass up on your chance to join us for the fun.

Successful Garage & Estate Sales

The community is invited out to a free workshop that will highlight our need to clean out our garages and attics and then turn some of our "junk" into cash!  This workshop will be presented by Christine Brockman, owner of a local antiques and estate liquidation company, and she will be on hand to share her secrets of how to successfully unload those items through cost-effective advertising, display, and proper pricing.

Make & Take: Jellyfish Crafts

Kids are invited to the next after school crafting session at the library where children's staff will supply all the materials to show you how to make your own Jellyfish Crafts.  As an added benefit, we promise these won't sting you.  It's a great way to spend an afternoon at the library, making fun crafts, and then heading to the library stacks to find some great books to checkout. 

Why Sunscreen Is Not Enough

Everyone is invited out to this informative program that's all about the sun.  Who doesn't like spending time in the sun?  It makes us happy and gives us vitamin D, but no one wants sun spots, wrinkled skin, or worse, damaged skin.  Nutritionist Dessire Armstrong, with Natural Grocers will explain how proper nutrition and supplements can help protect your skin.

Lego My Library (Lego Club)

If you're a fan of Legos (and who isn't) then you'll certainly want to be a part of this after school activity at your library.  Designed for youth and teens, ages 8-18, you're invited to come out and put your creative building skills to the test as we work on projects or free build.  Work on a project on your own or team up as a group.  There's no wrong way to participate.  We'll supply all the materials needed, you just come out ready to show us what you can make.  It'll be a blast. 

Stories in the Park: Bubbles Everywhere

We hope your ready for more outdoors storytime fun with your South Branch Library.  Kids of all ages are invited to join us for this interactive event where we'll be taking the storytimes outside of the library and into one of our city parks.  Join us at Redbud Park for an afternoon of stories, songs, and activities that all relate to BUBBLES in some form or fashion...we may even have tons of bubbles to share too.  Just look for us across from the playground (spot us near the 15-ft blue flag).  We'll supply tarps for sitting on or your welcome to bring out your own blankets, chairs, and other sit-upons.  This program will be hosted as long as the weather permits (check our Facebook, Twitter, or call us at 325-698-7565 if you're not sure).

Collecting Commas Writing Club

If you're between the ages of 10-17, and you love to write, become a part of our weekly writing club at your library.  Each week club members meet up to engage in writing activities designed to help strengthen creative writing skills in all forms of writing, and all led by children's librarian (and avid writer) Kelsie Wade.  There's no need to register, just come out and join in.

Ven a ver un gran pelicula de Disney para los ninos y los padres.  Con subtitulos in Ingles.  Sinopsis de la Pelicula: Arthur es un joven que aspira a ser escudero de un caballero. En un viaje de caza baja en Merlín, un mago de gran alcance pero amnésico que tiene planes para la verruga más allá de la mera squiredom. Comienza por tratar de dar la verruga una educación (sea lo que sea), creyendo que una vez que uno tiene una educación, uno puede ir a cualquier parte. Ni que decir, absolutamente no funciona así.

Kids and Parents are invited to join us for a mid-morning movie at your library, as we'll be showing a great Disney Pixar flick from 2008 titled "Wall-E."  In this film, set in the distant future, a small waste-collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind.  This film is Rated G and has a run time of 1hr and 38 min.  Light snacks will be provided, or you're free to bring your own.
