Friends of the Abilene Public Library did not disappoint in buying armloads of books at the annual library sale, said Lori Grumet, city librarian.
Although finalized figures won't be available until later this week, Grumet said, she thought the sale went just as well if not better than last year's book sale.
From Thursday evening through Sunday, people showed up in droves at the sale at the Abilene Civic Center to browse thousands of books, audiobooks, vinyl records, DVDs and VHS tapes, casette tapes, CDs, and more.
Goodwill picked up the leftovers Monday, Grumet said.
All proceeds from the sale go toward the Abilene Public Library, which will use the funds for new books, equipment, activities and staff training. The money also goes toward the Summer Reading Clubs currently going on at all three library locations, and the new South Branch Library being built in the Mall of Abilene.
