Today's Top Book & DVD Releases

Everyone loves staying on top of the latest in books & DVDs and we receive them on a regular basis at your library.  Join us as we hit the highlights of some of the more popular titles being released today.

London Has Fallen
Starring: Gerard Butler
Summary: In this sequel to the 2013 action thriller "Olympus Has Fallen," a terrorist plot unfolds in London as a number of politicians gather for the funeral of the British prime minister.  A Secret Service agent, the U.S. president, and an MI-6 operative must work together to stop the terrorists from assassinating the world's leaders and destroying the city's landmarks.

10 Cloverfield Lane
Starring: Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Summary: Following a car accident, Michelle awakens in the basement fallout shelter of a conspiracy-crazed who claims to have saved her from the wreckage of the crash.  He also informs her that a chemical attack has devastated the surrounding area, rendering the outside world uninhabitable.  Emmett, who barely made it into the shelter, corroborates this version of events, but Michelle remains suspicious.  As the dynamics within the bunker continually shift, she begins to doubt the truth of both what's happening in the shelter and in the outside world.

Hello, My Name is Doris
Starring: Sally Field
Summary: 60-something spinster Doris attempts to woo her much younger co-worker John after she attends a self-help seminar.  To her surprise, she is soon welcomed into John's social circle, although her new and exciting life strains her relationship with her longtime best friend.

Eddie the Eagle
Starring: Hugh Jackman
Summary:  Sports biopic of Michael "Eddie the Eagle" Edwards, whose participation in the 1988 Winter Olympics at Calgary marked the first time a Brit had ever competed in the ski-jumping event.  Edwards trains as a ski jumper under the tutelage of a hard-drinking former champ, and eventually finds fame as a lovable loser who's just trying his best.

The Young Messiah
Starring: Adam Greaves-Neal
Summary: Based on the novel Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt by Anne Rice, this is a biblical drama that imagines the life of Jesus at the age of seven.  As his family travels from Egypt to Nazareth, the young Jesus wishes to learn more about his identity and place in the world.  Meanwhile, Herod Antipas dispatches a Roman centurion to hunt down and kill the boy, whose miraculous powers might be a threat to his reign.
Foreign Agent
Author: Brad Thor
Summary: In a safe house near the Syrian border, a clandestine American operations team readies to launch a dramatic mission months in the making.  Their target: the director of Social Meida for ISIS, Abu Muslim al-Naser.  Multiple analysts, as well as a senior Congresswoman, are in the country to monitor the raid, but before the team can launch, the safe house is attacked.  What unfolds in the bloody aftermath is a political and public relations nightmare.  As horrific videos of the Americans are published on the Internet, the blame-storming back in the Washington goes into full swing, focusing on how the intel for the raid was developed and how it might have leaked.  As the search for answers mounts, half spy, half covert counterterrorism operative, Scot Harvath, quickly finds himself at the center of the storm.
