Monday Morning Movies

Don’t miss out on our morning movie sessions at the Main Library this summer, as we’ll be showing hits from the past and present and aimed at the general adult audience.  Each movie session will be hosted in the auditorium at the library and for our next Morning Movie flick, we’ll be watching the 1944 classic “National Velvet” starring Elizabeth Taylor and Mickey Rooney.  In this film, a jaded former jockey helps a young girl prepare a wild but gifted horse for England’s Grand National Sweepstakes.  This film is rated G with a run time of 2 hr 3 min.  If you need any additional information about this program, please contact Marie Skufca at 325-676-6025.

Family Fun: Hunting for Dinosaurs

Come on down to our monthly Family Fun event at your library, where we’re diving into the theme for the Summer Reading Club by going on a hunt for dinosaurs.  Designed for kids of all ages, as well as the entire family, come out to join us for stories, games, coloring, crafts, and more that are sure to delight everyone who comes out.  It’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon at the library and having tons of fun in literature.  For additional information about this event, feel free to contact Shelbie Fowler at 325-676-6067.

Family Game Night

School-Age Event: Piper’s Guild

Teens are invited to come out to our monthly movie night at your library where we’re certainly sticking with the dinosaur theme for the Teen Reading Club this year.  We’re going back in time, to the dinosaur flick that had the world in awe, with 1993’s “Jurassic Park” starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.  In this film, during a preview tour, a theme park suffers a major power breakdown that allows its closed dinosaur exhibits to run amok.  It’s the film that started a franchise that’s still going to this day.  Bring your friends and come ready to enjoy a great movie at your library, and for additional information, please feel free to contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

Super Storytime: All About Dinosaurs

Tween & Teen Coloring Club

Stories in the Park: Seuss-A-Bration

Collecting Commas Writing Club

Paleontology School (Session 2): Fossils

Beginner’s Disc Golf w/Deonna Shake

We’re ready for more fitness fun at your Abilene Public Library today, as the theme of the Adult Reading Club this year is Health & Fitness.  Sometimes working out can become monotonous and boring, so why not switch things up by engaging in different activities designed to make you have a little fun?  Join us for a Beginner’s Disc Golf session, hosted at Cal Young Park, that will run from 10AM to about noon.  Whether you’ve been playing for a while, or this is your first time, we’ll give you a rundown of the basic rules, helpful hints, then start playing.  This class will be taught by ACU instructor Deonna Shake, so come out and Exercise You Mind (and body) with your library!  For more information about this event, contact Ann Mount at 325-676-6025.

If you’re looking for a great family flick to catch this weekend, look no further than your Mockingbird Branch Library.  We’ll host a special showing of a popular flick that ties right in with the Summer Reading Club theme.  The featured movie will be the 2015 Disney Pixar film “The Good Dinosaur.”  In this film, in a world where dinosaurs and humans live side-by-side, an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend.  This film is rated PG and runs in at 1 hr 33 min and it’ll be a great movie to see again as a family.  For additional information about this event, contact Anne Ellis at 325-437-7323.

Teen Scene: Hands-On Sewing Workshop
