Family Fun: Beach Bonanza

Kids & Parents are invited out to our monthly Family Fun event at the library, designed as an enhanced storytime activity to enjoy.  Beaches are always a popular destination during the summer, and even if we don't have our own, that doesn't mean we can't have a little beach fun inside the library.  Join us for great stories, games, and crafts that all relate to having fun at the beach, but doing so inside the library.  No registration required, and for additional information, feel free to contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

Family Game Night

Families are encouraged to come out for an evening of traditional gaming fun at the library.  We've hosted them throughout the summer and this evening will focus on the trending Pokemon Go game as we host a Lure event.  Come out an have fun as a family, as well as interact with others in your community, at this fun library event.  For additional information, feel free to contact Anne Ellis at 325-437-7323.

Teen Flix

Teens are invited to come out to a free movie night at your library, no registration needed.  This month's featured film is a 2016 sci-fi action flick adapted from the bestseller by Rick Yancey titled "The 5th Wave" and starring Chloe Grace Moretz.  In this film, four waves of increasingly deadly alien attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother.  If you haven't seen it, this program is a great time to change that.  We'll supply light snacks, and for additional information, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

Minecraft Mania

Designed for tween & teens, ages 10-19, Minecraft fun is returning to the library after a brief hiatus over the summer.  Having been hugely popular at the library over the Spring, guests are invited to come out for some gaming fun on our mobile lab of laptops, and test your skills in this popular gaming activity that's a hit with youth everywhere.  We'll take turns playing the game, and while you're waiting, we'll have other activities that you'll be able to engage in to keep you busy.  Don't miss out on this new monthly activity at your library, and there's no need to register.  Just come out ready to have some Minecraft fun with us.  For additional information, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.


Teen Book Club

If you're an avid teen reader, you're invited to be a part of one of our two Teen Book Clubs at your library.  A this club meeting, we'll be discussing the book "Passenger" by Alexandra Bracken, which is the first book in the Passenger series, released this past summer.  Check out a copy from the library, or borrow one from a friend, and then come ready to discuss it with other avid readers in the community.  Plus, those who attend the club meetings regularly will decide what we read each month.  For more information, contact Marianne Vadney at 325-698-7565.

Collecting Commas Writing Club

Youth are invited to be a part of our weekly writing club at your library, where you can hone your creative writing skills in all forms from novels to poetry.  Each week we meet to work on various writing activities in a stress-free environment with your peers, and we even work on larger joint projects such as putting together poetry slams, writing plays, doing skits, and more.  We have a great group of youth attending each month, and we want you to be a part of the writing fun at your library.  There's no need to register, and for additional club information, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

Cover-to-Cover Book Club

If you're an avid reader in the community, and you're looking for a book club to join, be a part of the library's premier book club group meeting on the third Thursdays evenings of each month.  Reading everything from bestsellers to classics, those who attend the sessions regularly will help to decide what we read.  This month's featured selection is Jay Allison's "This I Believe" and we invite you to checkout a copy from the library, read it, and then come ready to discuss the title with other avid readers in the community.  For more information on the book club, contact Ann Mount at 325-676-6025.

Teen Flix After Hours

Teens are invited out to an after hours movie night at the library, and this month's featured flick will be a disaster movie from 2003 starring Aaron Eckhart and Hilary Swank in "The Core."  In this film, the Earth's core has stopped spinning. Disasters are appearing all over the world: Birds acting crazy, powerful thunderstorms, 32 people die within seconds of each other when their pacemakers quit working. Dr. Josh Keyes and his crew of five (total members: 6) go down to the center of the Earth to set off a nuclear device to make the Earth's core start spinning again or Mankind will perish.  We'll supply snacks and drinks, or you can feel free to bring your own.  Rides should return for pickup no later than 8:10PM.  For additional information about the movie night, contact Tremain Jackson at 325-698-7565.

Kids & Parents are invited to join us for a great afternoon movie day as we'll be showing the latest adaptation on the story of Peter Pan with 2015's "Pan" starring Levi Miller and Hugh Jackman.  In this film, 12-year-old orphan Peter is spirited away to the magical world of Neverland, where he finds both fun and danger, and ultimately discovers his destiny -- to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.  Come out to enjoy this film with us and light snacks will be provided.  For additional information, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.
