Bone Builders and Bone Breakers

The community is invited to attend a free workshop at your Main Library, led by nutrition health coach Dessire Armstrong.  This workshop is titled "Bone Builders and Bone Breakers" and Armstrong will be on hand to help explain how you can prevent, or at least delay, osteoporosis with the proper diet and nutritional supplements.  Come out and get the information you need from a expert in our community. Anime Club

Teens and young adults, ages 14-25, are invited to be a part of our monthly Anime Club at your Main Library.  We meetup on the 1st Tuesday evenings of each month and watch a host of hit anime shows, as well as engage in other activities, with people who share a passion for all things relating to anime and manga.  There's no need to register, just come out to the next session and check it out.  For additional information, contact Amanda Sasser at 325-676-6067.

Super Storytime: Clouds

Kids and parents are invited to join us for the next Super Storytime event at your Mockingbird Branch Library.  This month we're headed to the skies as we celebrate the clouds hanging high above.  Join us in the activity room as we'll share great stories about clouds, sing songs, and even make some binoculars as a way to help us view the clouds in the sky.  We'll supply all materials needed, all you have to do is come out and be ready to have a little fun with library staff at this event.  Don't miss out on the fun, and for additional information, contact Heather Carter at 325-437-7323.

Collecting Commas Writing Club

Youth are invited to be a part of our weekly writing club at your library, where you can hone your creative writing skills in all forms from novels to poetry.  Each week we meet to work on various writing activities in a stress-free environment with your peers, and we even work on larger joint projects such as putting together poetry slams, writing plays, doing skits, and more.  We have a great group of youth attending each month, and we want you to be a part of the writing fun at your library.  There's no need to register, and for additional club information, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

Peliculas en Espanol

The Main Library will be hosting another evening movie during ArtWalk Night, and it will be presented in Spanish.  The feature film will be base don a true story with 1988's "Stand and Deliver" starring Edward James Olmos and Lou Diamond Phillips.  In this film, Jaime Escalante is a math teacher in a school in a Hispanic neighborhood.  Convinced that his students have potential, he adopts unconventional teaching methods to help gang members and those with no hope pass the rigorous Advanced Placement exam in calculus.  This film is rated PG and runs in at 1 hour and 43 minutes.  Come out and watch it at your library, and for additional information, contact Janet Bailey at 325-677-2474.

Teen Scene After Hours: Glow Party

Gear up for the next Teen Scene After Hours event at your Main Library, designed for local teens ages 13-19.  If you're looking for something fun to do on a Friday night, we've got you covered with this event.  We're hosting a GLOW PARTY at the library.  Come out and participate in a variety of party games that are all glow-in-the-dark of course, including balloons, ring tosses, Murder in the Dark (the game of course), and so much more.  We'll supply all the materials you'll need, all you have to do is come out ready to have some fun with other teens in the community.  Come along, bring a friend, and make some new ones at this popular teen series at your library.  For additional information, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

Family Flix

Your South Branch Library presents Family Flix, a monthly program for all ages featuring a movie the entire family will like. September’s featured flick will be the hit 2015’s “Inside Out,” the hit Disney Pixar flick that all had us recognizing our feelings a little more.  In this film, After young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness – conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school.  This film is rated PG for mild thematic elements and some action and runs in at an hour and 35 minutes.  Popcorn and drinks will be provided, or feel free to bring your own snacks or sack lunch to enjoy at the library during the movie.  Don’t miss out on the movie fun at your library, and for additional information, contact Alyssa Crow at 325-698-7565.
