If you're a teen who loves to read, don't miss the next session of the Twisted Tales Teen Book Club at your Main Library.  Meeting on the fourth Mondays of the month, this group dives into re-tellings or classic stories and YA reads with a twist from our collection.

For November, the featured selection will be Splintered by A.G. Howard.  We invite you to look out for a copy at your library and then attend the next book club session on Monday, November 28 at 4:30PM.  For more information, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

Splintered (Splintered Series #1)
Author: A.G. Howard
Call Number: YA F HOWARD
Summary: This stunning debut captures the grotesque of a mystical under-land, as well as a girl's pangs of first love and independence.  Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers - precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before.  The family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.  Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together.  For now.  When her mother's mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality.  The rest Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on.  There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice's tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious Bandersnatch, to fix Alice's mistakes and save her family.  She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.

Be sure to checkout this title from your Abilene Public Library and come out ready to discuss it with other avid teen readers.  Again, the Twisted Tales Book Club will meet on Monday, November 28 at 4:30PM...get in on the reading fun!
