Tween Time: Leaf Print Bags

Tweens, ages 8-15, are invited out to a fun evening craft workshop at your library.  It's Fall, and that means the trees are shedding their leaves.  For this event, we'll show you how to take simple materials and turn them into something cool.  We'll have a variety of paints to color your leaves, which in turn will be used to decorate a book bag.  It'll be a great accessory for the fall, and you'll also get a neat looking tote bag out of the deal too.  Don't miss out, and for additional information, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

Minecraft Mania

Youth and teens, ages 8-18, are invited out to this monthly after school gaming event that's centered around MINECRAFT!!!  Popular with youth nationwide, guests will have the chance to come out and play on our mobile laptop stations throughout the afternoon in the library.  For those waiting to play, we'll also offer some Minecraft-inspired craft options as well.  There's no need to register for this evening, and when you arrive, everyone who wants a turn will have the opportunity to play.  Don't miss out on this popular series at your library, and for additional information, feel free to contact us at at 325-437-7323.

Lego My Library

If you're between the ages of 8-18, and you have a creative mind with a passion for building, you should certainly be a part of the Lego Club @ Your Library.  This after school event is perfect for letting your creativity soar as we'll supply you with a sea of Legos and building platforms and just set you loose to build whatever you like.  Sometimes we'll build based on a monthly theme, and other times we'll free design.  Whether you wish to work on a project solo, or team up with others for a joint project, just come out ready to have some building fun at your library.  For additional information, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

Super Storytime: Pie for All

When you think of holiday meals, they're never complete without one item...PIES!!!  Coming in so many tasty types, we're celebrating these delicious desserts through great stories, songs, crafts, and more at your library.  Kids of all ages, and parents too, are invited out to this morning event where we'll take you on a great adventure through stories including "All for Pie, Pie for All," "Ugly Pie," and more.  Plus, at the end of the program, we'll even supply all the materials needed to have youth make their own paper plate pie craft as a great decoration.  Don't miss out, and for additional information, contact us at 325-437-7323.

Collecting Commas Writing Club

If you have a child between the ages of 10-17, and they love to express themselves through writing, don't miss out on the chance to be a part of the weekly Collecting Commas Writing Club at your Main Library.  Meeting every Thursday afternoon at 4:00PM, this group meets to hone their creative writing skills in all form of writing including novels, short stories, poetry, and more.  Plus, we make writing fun by engaging in a host of fun activities to help inspire ideas and participation among participants.  There's no need to register to be a part of this club, simply come check out a meeting and see if it's meant for you.  For more information about this weekly program, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.

Musician's Workshop

Professional musician Steve Miller invites anyone who may be interested in song writing and/or performing music in public to attend a free “Musician’s Workshop”.  In addition to exploring the craft of song writing, Miller will talk about how to bring talent to public appearances and how to go about obtaining those engagements.   Regardless of age, level of talent or whether you sing and play or just play an instrument, you’re sure to pick up some great ideas among fellow musicians.  For more information, contact us at 325-676-6025.

Holiday Closing: Veteran's Day

All locations will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veteran's Day.  Outside materials returns are available at all locations if you need to return library items, and feel free to make use of our digital services available 24/7.  We'll resume our normal hours of operation the following day at 9:00AM.

Calling all Procraftinators (aka procrastinators who craft and create)! Do you still have a pile of WIPs (works in progress)? This winter bring all those projects that you want to finish before the holidays to the Abilene Public Library. Mark your calendar for a dedicated time to get out of the house and work on all those crafty creations that you want to finish up.
