Novels at Night Club: "Mort[e]"
Dec. 13 at 6:00PM
South Branch
4310 Buffalo Gap Rd.
PH: 325-698-7565
If you’re an adult who’s into peculiar reads, you’re invited to be a part of the Novels at Night Club at your South Branch Library.  Each month we feature selections that are a bit off the beaten path, and in December, our featured selection is Robert Repino’s “Mort[e].”  In this book, a race of intelligent ants use their advance technology to transform pets into an army bent on usurping their human masters.  Although written as a young adult title, it has crossover appeal for the adult audience.  If this oddly humorous sci-fi epic sounds like your cup of tea, join us for a lively discussion on this title from your library.  For more information, contact Marianne Vadney at 325-698-7565.

Teens are invited out to our Teen Flix After Hours Movie Night where we host a great lineup of popular movies after the library has closed to the public.  In December, we’ll be showing a non-traditional Christmas flick from the ‘80s, which became a cult classic, in “Gremlins” starring Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates.  In this film, a teenaged boy inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet, and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on his small town.  This film is rated PG, adjusted to PG-13, for sequences of creature violence including disturbing images, crude humor, some language, and thematic material.  We’ll start the movie at 6:00PM and it runs in at 1 hour and 46 minutes.  Rides should arrive for pickup by 7:45PM.  Snacks will be provided so don’t miss out on the teen movie night fun.  For more information, contact Tremain Jackson at 325-698-7565.

What unfolds is an adventure which follows a doubting boy, who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole; during this ride, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery which shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.  This film is rated G and has a run time of 1 hour and 40 minutes.  Light refreshments will be served, and for additional information, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.
