Holiday Closing: Christmas
All Locations

All locations of the Abilene Public Library will be closed on Sunday, December 25 in observance of Christmas Day.  The Main Library and Mockingbird Branch locations will additionally be closed on Dec. 24 and December 26, opening again on Dec. 27, while the South Branch Library will only be closed on December 25, open regular hours on Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas.

Minecraft Mania

We want you to be a part of the Minecraft Mania fun at your Abilene Public Library, with multiple sessions hosted across all three branches!  Designed for tweens and teens (ages 8-18), join your South Branch Library on the fourth Tuesday afternoons of each month as we dive into the digital world of Minecraft.  We’ll provide access to laptops for gamers to play in story mode, while also offering some additional Minecraft-themed activities and crafts to get involved in.  So come on out, bring a friend, and make some new ones at this digital series of events at your library.  For additional information, contact Marianne Vadney at 325-698-7565.

Make & Take: Choose Your Craft

Don’t miss out on the final Make & Take crafting session of the month at your library, which is a great afternoon activity session for kids of all ages.  The final session is always a choose your craft event, where we’ll supply youth with a variety of different projects to make at your library.  Why make one craft when you can make two, and the crafts are always changing.  We’ll supply all the materials needed, all you need to do is bring your creativity and decide what you want to make!  For more information about this program, contact Insperation Sanchez at 325-698-7565.

Super Storytime: Holiday Fun

Kids and parents won’t want to miss out on the next Super Storytime event at your South Branch Library.  Even though the holidays may be over, we’re staying in the holiday spirit by hosting a great enhanced storytime event that’s all about having some Holiday Fun at the library.  Join us as we share some great stories, make an elf craft, play Pin the Nose on the Frosty, and so much more.  Come out and celebrate with us, all materials supplied.  For additional information, contact Jessica Reyes at 325-698-7565.

Teen Time: Paper Crafts

Local teens are invited out to a fun workshop in the next Teen Time activity at your South Branch Library hosted in the Teen Room.  This month, it’s all about paper crafts where scissors, glue, and paper will be put together to design and create some pretty unique crafts.  We’ll supply all the materials you’ll need for this workshop, all you have to do is bring your creativity and be prepared to have a little fun in this afternoon workshop.  For more information about this event, feel free to contact Marianne Vadney at 325-698-7565.

Collecting Commas Writing Club

If you have a child between the ages of 10-17, and they love to express themselves through writing, don't miss out on the chance to be a part of the weekly Collecting Commas Writing Club at your Main Library.  Meeting every Thursday afternoon at 4:00PM, this group meets to hone their creative writing skills in all form of writing including novels, short stories, poetry, and more.  Plus, we make writing fun by engaging in a host of fun activities to help inspire ideas and participation among participants.  There's no need to register to be a part of this club, simply come check out a meeting and see if it's meant for you.  For more information about this weekly program, contact Kelsie Wade at 325-676-6067.
