Science Club

Youth, ages 8+, are invited out to our monthly Science Club session at the library.  Each month we meet up to learn about a new science concept, and then get hands on with experiments and demonstrations to immerse ourselves in what we've learned.  It's the perfect after school activity that allows youth to have fun, while learning too.  There's no registration required to be a part of this club, just come out to our next meeting and be ready to have some fun with library staff.  For more information, contact Amanda Sasser at 325-676-6067.

Make & Take: Paper Penguins

You're invited to come out and join us for a free movie night at your Mockingbird Branch Library.  In January, our featured flick will be 2007's "Stomp the Yard" starring Columbus Short and Meagan Good.  In this film, after the death of his brother, An expert street dancer goes to Georgia to attend Truth University. But his efforts to get an education and woo the girl he likes are sidelined when he joins in his fraternity's effort to win a step dancing competition.  This movie is rated PG-13 for a scene of violence, some sexual material and language, and it has a run time of 1 hour and 49 minutes.  Come join us for a great movie, and for additional information, contact Anne Ellis at 325-437-7323.

Our Best Shot: The Importance of Vaccines for Older Adults

LVN Tammy Copeland with the Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District will be bringing the latest information on vaccines, possible side effects and how often they should be given, including the High dose flu vaccine compared to the regular flu vaccine, Prevnar 13 (the new Pneumonia vaccine), Pneumonia 23 (the "5-year vaccine"), Tdap (tetanus with whooping cough) and Zoster (Shingles). Morning Mingle: Color Your Cares Away

Collecting Commas Writing Club

Your South Branch Library presents Family Flix, a monthly program for all ages featuring a movie the entire family will like. Join us as we celebrate the winter with a great animated flick titled “Norm of the North,” with the voices of Rob Schneider and Heather Graham.  In this film, when a real estate development invades his Arctic home, Norm and his three lemming friends head to New York City, where Norm becomes the mascot of the corporation in an attempt to bring it down from the inside and protect his homeland.  This film is rated PG for mild rude humor and action and has a run time of 1 hour and 30 minutes.  Popcorn and drinks will be provided, or feel free to bring your own snacks or sack lunch to enjoy.  For additional information, contact Alyssa Crow at 325-698-7565.

Don’t miss the 2nd Saturdays at your South Branch as this is our major movie day with Family Flix in the morning and our Saturday Matinee in the afternoon.  All ages are welcome to drop in for our featured popular flick of the month as we’ll be showing great hits from all genres and years.  In January, we’re going to show an awesome sci-fi/adventure comedy featuring a great cast including Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, and Alan Rickman with 1999’s “Galaxy Quest.”  In this film, the alumni cast of a space opera television series have to play their roles as the real thing when an alien race needs their help.    This film is rated PG-13 for action violence, mild language, and sensuality.  Light snacks will be provided, or feel free to bring your own and for additional information, contact Tremain Jackson at 325-698-7565.
