Everyone loves staying on top of the latest in books & DVDs and we receive them on a regular basis at your library.  Join us as we hit the highlights of some of the popular titles being released today.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Starring: Eddie Redmayne
Summary: This spin-off of the Harry Potter franchise jumps back in time to explore the wizarding world of 1926 New York, which is being threatened by both mystical acts of destruction and a group of extremist No-Majs (the American term for Muggles, i.e. those unable to use magic).  Author Newt Scamander arrives in the city as part of a global study of fantastic beasts, but he gets caught up in this conflict when some of the magical creatures in his care are accidentally released.

Why Him?
Starring: James Franco
Summary: An adoring dad is horrified to discover that his adult daughter is dating a tech billionaire who's a tattooed, party-hearty lout.  Despite the boyfriend's heart of gold and generous (if inappropriate) gestures of affection, the father refuses to warm to him - especially once he learns that he's planning to pop the question.

A Monster Calls
Starring: Liam Neeson
Summary: The monster does not come walking often.  This time it comes to Connor, and it asks for the one thing Connor cannot bring himself to do.  Tell the truth.  This is a very touching story about a boy who feels very damaged, guilty, and mostly angry.  He struggles at school with bullies, and pity looks from everyone, and at home with his mother's sickness.  Will Connor overcome his problems?  Will everything be okay?  Will Connor be able to speak the truth?

Black Book
Author: James Patterson
Summary: Billy Harney was born to be a cop.  The son of Chicago's chief of detectives, whose twin sister is also on the force, Billy plays it by the book.  Alongside Det. Kate Fenton, Billy's tempestuous, adrenaline-junkie partner, there's nothing he wouldn't sacrifice for his job.  Enter Amy Lentini, a hard-charging assistant state's attorney hell-bent on making a name for herself - who suspects Billy isn't the cop he claims to be.  They're about to be linked by more than their careers.  One missing black book.  A horrifying murder leads investigators to an unexpected address - an exclusive brothel that caters to Chicago's most powerful citizens.  There's plenty of incriminating evidence on the scene, but what matters most is what's missing: the madam's black book.  Now shock waves are rippling through the city's elite, and everyone's desperate to find it.  Chicago has never been more dangerous.

A Perfect Obsession
Author: Heather Graham
Summary: Someone is murdering beautiful young women in the NY area and displaying them in mausoleums and underground tombs.  The FBI is handling the case, with Special Agent Craig Frasier as lead.  Kieran Finnegan, forensic psychologist and part owner of Finnegan's, her family's pub, is consulting on the case.  Craig and Kieran are a couple who've worked together on more than one occasion.  On this occasion, though, Craig fears for the safety of the woman he loves.  Because the killer is too close.  The body of a young model is found in a catacomb under a 200-year-old church, now desecrated and turned into a nightclub.  A church directly behind Finnegan's in lower Manhattan.  As more women are murdered, their bodies discovered in underground locations in NY, it's clear that the police and the FBI are dealing with a serial killer.
