May's Cover-to-Cover Book Club Selection

If you're looking for a great book club discussion group, try our Cover-to-Cover Book Club at your library.  Meeting on the third Thursdays of the month, this group reads everything including bestsellers, fiction, biographies, nonfiction, classics, and more.

For May, the featured selection is Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson and we invite you to look out for a copy at your library and then attend the book club meeting on Thursday, May 18 at 7:00PM.  For more information, be sure to contact Ann Mount at 325-676-6025.

Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania
Author: Erik Larson
Summary: On May 1, 1915, the Lusitania set sail on its final voyage.  That it was sank by a German U-boat will be news to few - and Larson's challenge is to craft a historical narrative leading up to the thrilling, if known, conclusion, building anticipation in his readers along the way.  Focusing on the politics of WWI, on nautical craftsmanship and strategy, and on key players in the eventual attack and sinking of the "fast, comfortable, and beloved" Lusitania, Larson once again illustrates his gift for seducing us with history and giving it a human face.  "Dead Wake" puts readers right aboard the famous Cunard liner and keeps them turning the pages until the book's final, breathless encounter.

Be sure to checkout this title from your Abilene Public Library and come out ready to discuss this title with other avid readers in the community.  Again, the Cover-to-Cover Book Club will meet on Thursday, May 18 at 7:00PM to discuss this title, so be sure to get in on the reading fun.
