If you want to experience the Abilene Public Library at its best and busiest, you certainly won't want to miss out on the summer fun we have coming your way in June. Staff has been working hard to put everything together, and we'll be ready to present the 2017 Summer Reading Clubs (SRC) starting June 5 across all three library branches. With a club designed for the entire community to participate in, we'll offer plenty of programming, special events, and more that you won't want to miss.
The slogan for this year is "Build a Better World" where we'll present programming related to that theme and, like always, offer access to a great selection of books, audiobooks, movies, digital services, computers, and more.
Like last year, three clubs will run at your library this summer, offering everyone the chance to participate in the club for your age group. Let's take a quick look at them.
We're changing things up a bit. We're still offering SRC information, but we will not offer weekly incentives (prizes) for visiting the library. Youth who complete this year's club challenge, by reading 10 books and attending four (4) programs, will be invited to a special End of Summer Party hosted at Nelson Park. Additionally, each child will receive a FREE ticket to the Abilene Zoo (with the purchase of an adult ticket). Learn more by visiting the Kids' Reading Club section online.
Much like the kids' club, we won't offer weekly incentives/prizes, but we will offer you the chance to win great prizes throughout the summer. Your packet of information will come with raffle tickets for you to complete throughout the summer. By completing them, and returning them to your library, you'll be entered into drawings for great prizes throughout the summer. The more you read and attend programs, the more chances you'll have to win. Learn more by visiting the Teen Reading Club section online.
Just because you're an adult, it doesn't mean you have to be left out of the reading club fun. Pickup your SRC information and earn chances to enter a raffle by completed the tasks needed to fill out the tickets. Several prizes will be offered throughout the summer, so you won't want to miss out on your chances to win.
Find all of your information on the summer reading clubs online including frequently asked questions, a schedule of events, the Young Audiences of Abilene summer series schedule, printable copies of the event flyers for each club, and more.
Your Abilene Public Library is truly the place to be this summer, offering you a wealth of fun at no charge to you. If you need any additional information, never hesitate to contact your local library branch and staff will be more than happy to assist you.
