Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a great listener?
Most of us would list patience, respect, and kindness as three essential skills to being an attentive listener. When you're learning to read, having someone who is a great listener is often crucial to gaining self-confidence and mastering the art of reading. So who's the best listener to sit calmly and wait for a young child to read through a book on their own - a dog of course!
On Monday July 10 at 10:30AM at the Mockingbird Branch Library (1326 N. Mockingbird Ln.) will host "Read to a Dog!" for children ages 3-12. Local pet therapy group, Tail Waggin Tutors, will be on hand with their certified canine companions to listen to children read in this come and go program. Tail Waggin Tutors, is a division of Therapy Dog International an organization committed to safety for both the dogs and the many individuals they serve.
So if you're looking for a great event to be a part of, we hope you'll stop in and "Read to a Dog!" on Monday, July 10 at 10:30AM. If you have any questions, contact your Mockingbird Branch Library at 325-437-7323.
