Weekend Walk-In Flix: "Power Rangers"

If you're into superhero action flicks, you won't want to miss this Weekend Walk-In Flix session.  Join us for a free movie showing of 2017's "Power Rangers" in a modern look at the show that has been with us since 1993.  In this film, a group of high-school students, who are infused with unique superpowers, harness their abilities in order to save the world.  This film is rated PG-13 and has a run time of 2 hours and 4 minutes.  Light snacks will be served, or feel free to bring your own.

As more people acquire smartphones, tablets, and laptops, you may find yourself needing a little help.  Be it learning our digital services, getting started on PCs, learning Microsoft Office, and more, join us for TECH (Technology Enrichment & Collaborative Help) Time at your library.  Sessions will be hosted twice a week on Mondays at the South Branch Library and Thursdays at the Main Library from 2:00PM to 4:00PM.  Sessions will be provided by the library’s Technology/Social Media Manager and the Multimedia Marketing Assistant.  We may not have all the answers, but we’ll certainly be on hand to assist you and help in some way.  Guests will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to 30-minutes if others are waiting. 

Family Fun: Seed, Soil, Sun

Kids of all ages are invited to join us for a great Family Fun event where this month's theme is "Seed, Soil, Sun."  We'll be taking a peek into the world of flowers and plants through stories, songs, crafts, and fun.  So if you have an interest in growing things, this is the program for you.  We'll supply all the materials for any crafts we do, just come out ready to have fun at your library.

The Craft Life: Kindness Rocks

Tweens and teens (ages 8-18) are invited out to the next crafting session at your library where staff will provide all the supplies and instructions needed to show you how to make something fun.  For July, the theme is "Kindness Rocks" where we'll be giving new life to ordinary rocks and spreading kindness with others.  Who couldn't use more of that in the world?

Holiday Closing: Independence Day

The Main Library and Mockingbird Branch Library locations will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.  For your convenience outside materials returns are available at all locations.  The South Branch Library will be open during regular hours from 10AM to 6PM if you're needing library services. 

Lego Club Jr.

Youth, up to age 12, are invited to join us for the next monthly Lego Club Junior session at your library.  We'll supply all the platforms and pieces needed, and then we'll cut you loose to see what you can create in under an hour.  Work on a project solo, or team up with others for something bigger...there's no wrong way to participate.  Plus, at the end of the program, we'll add your creations to the display case to be the new featured display of the month.  It's pretty awesome.

Teen Lego Club

Teens are invited to come out and join the South Branch Library for our monthly Teen Lego Club session where we'll supply all the platforms and pieces needed for you to create whatever your mind can imagine.  We've seen some pretty incredible projects, and once your done, you can show them off to others by allowing us to make them part of our featured monthly display.

Morning Mingle's Coloring Club

Adults are invited to join us for the next Morning Mingle Coloring Club session at your library.  Coloring isn't just for kids, and at each session, we enjoy conversation, soothing music, light snacks, and of course coloring fun.  We'll supply all the materials you'll need for this program, but feel free to bring your own supplies if you'd like.  Just don't pass up on this stress-free event.

Disney Flix & Crafts: "Inside Out"

Kids and parents are invited to join us for the next Disney Flix & Crafts session where we'll watch popular Disney movies, then make crafts inspired by the film.  At this session, the featured flick will be 2015's "Inside Out" with the voices of Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, and Lewis Black.  In this film, after young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness - conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school.  This film is rated PG and has a run time of 1 hour and 35 minutes.  Light snacks will be provided (or feel free to bring your own) and we'll supply all the materials needed for the craft project.

Make & Take: Summer Windsocks

Kids are invited out to the next Make & Take session where we're still having fun with things you can do outdoors.  At this session, we'll supply the materials needed to show you how to make your own Summer Windsocks.  These will be great for taking outside and then letting the air catch them so they can blow in the breeze.  Don't miss out on the fun.


Collecting Commas Writing Club

For young adults, ages 10-17, this is your chance to come out and improve your creative writing skills with no pressure or stress.  This weekly writing club gives young writers the opportunity to explore and hone their creative writing skills in all forms of writing, in a stress-free environment with their peers.  No registration is needed to participate, just come out to a session and see if it's for you.

Super Storytime: Sing-Along

Who I Could Be: Meet a Meteorologist

Kids are invited out to the next session of the "Who I Could Be" series, where we bring in professionals from the community to share with youth what they do in their careers.  At this session, we'll be welcoming in Meteorologist Randy Turner from KRBC, and he will be on hand to share what he does to keep everyone informed of what's happening with the weather.  Who knows, we may just have a future meteorologist in the bunch.

Teen After Hours: Dungeons & Dragons

Join us for the next after hours teen activity night at your library.  For this month, we'll be diving into the gaming world of Dungeons & Dragons.  Don't miss out on being a part of this epic adventure as you play against your peers, or even learn how to play for the first time.  We do ask that teens arrive by 5:45PM because at 6:00PM., the library will close and we will not let anyone else in.  Rides should return for pickup by 7:30PM.

Family Flix: "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"

Families are invited to be a part of the next Family Flix session where we'll be showing 1971's "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," based on the beloved children's book by Roald Dahl.  In this film, Charlie receives a golden ticket to a factory run by Mr. Willy Wonka.  It's a candy dream for the young guests who discover an adventure at every turn...and some with unexpected outcomes.  Don't miss out on this popular classic.  This film is rated G and has a run time of 1 hour and 40 minutes.  Light snacks will be served, or feel free to bring your own.

Saturday Matinee: "Patriots Day"

Join us for a great afternoon movie showing, and this month we'll be watching 2016's "Patriots Day" with an ensemble cast of great actors including Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, Michelle Monaghan, and more.  In this film, it tells the story of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the aftermath, which includes the city-wide manhunt to find the terrorists responsible.  This film is rated R for violence, realistically graphic injury images, language throughout, and some drug use and has a run time of 2 hours and 14 minutes.  Snacks will be provided, or feel free to bring your own.
