Book-to-Flix: Ella Enchanted

Gear up for another Book-to-Flix movie session at your library where we watch popular movies adapted from books.  This month will feature an adaptation of a children's book by Gail Carson Levine with 2004's "Ella Enchanted" starring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Dancy, and Cary Elwes.  In this fantasy flick, Ella is under a spell to be constantly obedient, a fact she must hide from her new step-family in order to protect the prince of the land, her friend for whom she's falling for.  This film is rated PG for some crude humor and language and has a run time of 1 hour and 36 minutes.  Light snacks will be provided, or feel free to bring your own.  For additional information, contact Tremain Jackson at 325-698-7565.

As more people acquire smartphones, tablets, and laptops, you may find yourself needing a little help.  Be it learning our digital services, getting started on PCs, learning Microsoft Office, and more, join us for TECH (Technology Enrichment & Collaborative Help) Time at your library.  Sessions will be hosted twice a week on Mondays at the South Branch Library and Thursdays at the Main Library from 2:00PM to 4:00PM.  Sessions will be provided by the library’s Technology/Social Media Manager and the Multimedia Marketing Assistant.  We may not have all the answers, but we’ll certainly be on hand to assist you and help in some way.  Guests will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to 30-minutes if others are waiting.

Minecraft Mania

Minecraft is a popular gaming series with youth that's both fun and educational.  Tweens and teens are invited out to the South Branch Library for our monthly Minecraft Mania series, now on a new day, where you can game with your peers on laptops we provide.  Everyone who wants to play will get a turn, and while you wait, we'll also be engaging in Minecraft-inspired activities whether it's making paper crafts or building with Legos.  For more information, contact Alyssa Crow at 325-698-7565.

Young Audiences featuring Le Theatre de Marionette

Youth are invited out to the next Young Audiences performance for the summer at your Main Library.  At this session, we're welcoming in Le Theatre de Marionette for a great and interactive program certain to delight youth.  This performing troupe has an extensive repertoire of storybook classics and have been putting on shows across Texas since 1985.  Kid-tested and teacher-approved, you won't want to miss out on their wonderful show.  For additional information, contact us at 325-676-6067.

Mockingbird Nights: Super Happy Fun Time Karaoke

Adults, ages 18-40, won't want to miss out on the next Mockingbird Nights program at your library.  As a popular activity night, this month we'll be hosting a Super Happy Fun Time Karaoke Night where everyone can take to the figurative stage and belt out hits solo, or as part of a group to increase the fun.  Come out, have a little fun, and give those singing chips some release by joining in on this session.  For additional information, contact Marianne Vadney at 325-437-7323.

Disney Flix & Crafts: Tangled

Don't miss the next Disney craft and movie session as this week we'll be watching 2010's "Tangled" with the voices of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi.  In this film, the magically long-haired Rapunzel has spent her entire life in a tower, but now that a runaway thief has stumbled upon her, she is about to discover the world for the first time, and who she really is.  This film is rated PG for brief mild violence and has a run time of 1 hour and 40 minutes.  Light snacks will be served (or feel free to bring your own) and we'll provide all the materials needed for our craft portion of the event.  For additional information, contact Tremain Jackson at 325-698-7565.

Teen Craft: DIY Pet Toys

Collecting Commas Writing Club

Summer STEM Challenge: Balloon Towers

Teen Scene After Hours: Dystopian Party

Teens won't want to miss the next Teen Scene After Hours Night at your Main Library.  Each month features new activities for teens to get involved in at your library, and for this month, we'll be hosting a Dystopian Party.  We all have our favorites from the Hunger Games to the Maze Runner and this night we'll take a romp through worlds that aren't as perfect as they seem.  Come out and play games, test your survival skills, make crafts, and more.  Pickup time is 7:30PM, and for additional information, call 325-676-6067.
