Celebrate the Nerd Lifestyle at ArtWalk Activity

Your library is gearing up for the next ArtWalk Night in downtown Abilene where we'll be nerd'ing it out with fun activities in a partnership with the Center for Contemporary Arts, located at 220 Cypress St.  Thanks to our good friend Bird Thomas, staff from different library locations will come out to celebrate the nerd in us all from 5-8PM on Thursday, July 13.  We'll offer a variety of activities for youth to participate in throughout the evening including Lego building, science experiments, and more geeky goodness.

Did you know Dr. Seuss invented the word "nerd?"  It first appeared in his book "If I Ran the Zoo" (1950).  Although it would later be used as a pejorative term in describing people negatively, we've taken it back and now people embrace calling themselves nerds and geeks.

So if you're a nerd, be sure to visit the Center for Contemporary Arts next week for ArtWalk, and be a part of the Nerd Night fun with your library.  Drop by for a little while, and then head on out to participate in more great activities being hosted downtown for ArtWalk Night.  There's something for everyone, and it's great for the entire community to come out and enjoy artists, musicians, vendors, exhibits, and so much more.

Again, be sure to join us on July 13 from 5-8PM at the Center for Contemporary Arts for some Nerd Night fun.  Learn more about ArtWalk online, or call your library at 325-698-7565 to learn more about the activities we'll host that evening.
