Grandparent & Me Craft Time Extends to Fall

Your library works hard to continue to provide new and fresh programming for the community to take advantage of.  Plus, we always love to hear your suggestions on events you'd like to see us put together.  Such new programs help us to gauge the direction we'd like to go, while also continuing to expand upon activities that have been well-received.

One of those we hope guests continue to come out and support is the Grandparent & Me Craft Time series.  This intergenerational series offers a time for grandparents and grandkids to come out and get hands-on with fun craft activities to enjoy together.  The first session was conducted in June, where we decorated birdfeeders for the yard.  We had an amazing turnout at the Main Library with families joining us in this interactive and social series.

Based on that turnout this current summer series will be expanded to offer more sessions in the fall, offering additional fun projects to come out to the library to get involved in.  Best yet, there's no registration required to participate, no fees to pay, and all materials and instruction will be provided by the library and staff.  All that's required of you is to come out and be ready to have a little fun at your library.

Before the fall sessions occur, there are still additional opportunities to take advantage of this program over the summer.  All sessions will be hosted at your Main Library, located at 202 Cedar St., and under the direction of Heather Carter.
  • Friday, July 21 at 10:00AM: Herb Starter Plants | This session is all about growing where staff will supply the tools to show you how to grow your own plants to start an herb garden.  Then you can take them home and see if you can continue to keep them growing together.
  • Friday, August 11 at 10:00AM: Paper Lanterns | Come to this session where guests will be making, decorating, and enjoying some cool paper lanterns together.
For more information about the Grandparent & Me Craft Series, feel free to contact Heather Carter at 325-676-6029.  Then be sure to look out in the fall for additional sessions, offered at a different time to reach the greatest number of adults and kids when school is out.
