The Main Library (202 Cedar St) is a highly utilized location when it comes to diving into your family history. We provide a great genealogical collection in print and digital form for all to take advantage of. From viewing census records in HeritageQuest Online to tracing your roots through AncestryPlus, accessing old newspaper articles through microfilm to flipping through historical books, these and more are at your fingertips in our genealogy department.
Regardless of your skill level when it comes to researching your past, everyone is welcome to attend the next Genealogy Lock-In at your Main Library from 6:00PM to 8:45PM on Friday, July 13. This hands-on workshop with library staff will help you to build new skills, highlight various resources, and get to know other local genealogists in the community.
As many will attest to, once you begin digging up your past, each of the clues you'll find along the way will be a breadcrumb that makes you want to continue deeper. Plus, using the knowledge of staff and other guests, you may be able to pick up helpful tips and tricks for maneuvering your way around potential dead ends, great resources to utilize you may not know about, and so much more. Regardless of your reasons for getting started in your genealogical research, most have a strong interest in carving out a place for themselves, as well as their families, for preserving the past so future generations may be able to learn from it.
Don't pass up on your chance to attend the Genealogy Lock-In, again being hosted on Friday, July 14 from 6:00PM to 8:45PM at the Main Library. We do ask that all participants arrive early. Once the library closes at 6:00PM, and the doors are locked, we're getting started.
