Online shopping. We all do it. It's the convenience of buying just about anything, at any time of day, even from the comfort of your home, that can be irresistible. What if I told you that you can turn your online shopping into something beneficial for the Abilene Public Library? That would be a win-win right? You're going to shop online anyway, and now part of those sales from your purchases can go to your library.
That's the case with our subscription to Wowbrary, the service where you may register to receive free weekly newsletters via email each Wednesday, highlighting the new materials we've added to our collection. Searchable by popular items and under subject headings, it's the easiest way to keep track of all things new at your library.
Through a partnership between Wowbrary and Amazon, purchases you make through this mega online retailer (done so through a specific URL) can go directly back to your library. For purchases made, up to 4.3% of those sales will come back to your library. That's simply AMAZING. I don't know about you, but I shop from Amazon often. Now that I know about this service, I'm going to use it all the time.
Getting started is simple. Be sure you've registered your email on Wowbrary to begin received the newsletters each Wednesday. Once you've received your first issue, open it and you'll find a red text link on the right-hand side of the screen with the option to support your library. A faster way to do so is by linking directly to the Shop at Amazon page. Once you do, I recommend you bookmark it and use that link anytime you wish to buy from Amazon in the future.
Once you've accessed the Shop at Amazon page, purchases on anything sold on the Amazon site during that session will apply towards benefiting your library. Remember, only items purchased using the specific Shop at Amazon link will be used to help your library so remember to always enter through that link.
Although we hope you'll also join the 800+ patrons whom already subscribe to Wowbrary, you do not have to be an active subscriber to take advantage of this service. Just by using the Shop at Amazon link when you're ready to do online shopping on Amazon will help us out.
Anyone who shops online has the opportunity to help, no matter where you are, through that link so feel free to share with your friends, families, and contacts. If you have any questions, feel free to Email Me (Tremain Jackson, Technology/Social Media Manager).
