Do you know your neighbors? Are you living in and around the Mockingbird Branch Library? If so, we invite you to join us for a Neighbor to Neighbor Night on Tuesday, October 16 at 5:15PM. Our goal is to provide a safe, central, welcoming space for those living on the northwest side of town to meet and get to know each other.
Getting to know your neighbors is important, no matter where you live or how long you've lived there. According to UrbanBound.com "Sometimes it feels like America is losing its sense of community, and that's a bad thing. It's not totally lost however, and you can change the tide in your neighborhood. Getting to know your neighbors promotes a friendly local atmosphere."
Representatives from the Abilene Police Department (APD), as well as Connecting, Caring, Communities (CCC), will be on hand at our event. The CCC is a non-profit organization focused on building communities. It's focused on neighbors meeting neighbors and is co-sponsored along with APD in the Neighbor2Neighbor initiative which serves as Abilene's neighborhood watch program.
If you live between the streets of Mockingbird Ln, N. 1st, Winters Freeway and Vogel St., you are just the neighbor we'd love to meet! We'll kick things off promptly at 5:15PM and light refreshments will be served as we hear a brief update on our neighborhood from the APD and representatives of CCC. For more information about this event, give us a call at 325-437-7323.
