Register to Attend Festive Pumpkin Painting Party

Update 10-13-2018: We have received the maximum number of participants registered to attend this workshop.  Thanks to everyone who signed up.  If you are not signed up, we're sorry, but look out for more workshops in the future.

Seasonal programming can always be expected when big holidays are near.  We also must admit that we find that coming up with holiday programming is pretty fun and gets our creative juices flowing.  As Halloween draws near, a time-honored tradition has always been to get a pumpkin and carve out faces to light the outsides of your homes during Halloween.

Jack-O-Lanterns, as they're commonly known, come in all styles and the custom of doing so can even date back to Ireland in the 19th century that were used during Halloween.  They were used to represent spirits and other supernatural beings as a means of warding off evil spirits.  Although we won't be carving pumpkins at your library, as it can be messy and time-consuming, we will be celebrating with a fun workshop.  You're invited to take part in our Pumpkin Painting Party at your Main Library that will run on Saturday, October 20 at 10:00AM.  Geared for all ages, at this program we'll supply you with smaller pumpkins and have you decorate them with paints to design your own holiday pumpkin.  This way, you can change the designs however you'd like up until Halloween by simply cleaning off the paint and starting over again.

We anticipate having a great turnout, so this is one of the few times we will ask that you register if you'd like to attend this session.  We're limiting the workshop to the first 50 people who signup, and you can do so by calling staff at 325-676-6025 or emailing program coordinator Heather Carter.

Don't miss out on your chance to be a part of this fun DIY craft session at your library and come show us what type of spooky little pumpkins you can create this Halloween.  Plus, if you're looking for more Halloween ideas to keep yourselves occupied this month, staff can certainly point you to a great selection fo books and resources that can be checked out to inspire you.

Whatever you do, be sure to not miss out on our Pumpkin Painting Party at your Main Library on Saturday, October 20 at 10:00AM.  We plan on having a wonderful time, and they'll be great to use this Halloween season.
